Death Found Not To Be Suspicious
No Criminal Activity Suspected

On Monday, November 18th, 2024, Halifax Regional Police released a statement concerning the sad event that took place at the Walmart, on Mumford Road in Halifax, Nova Scota, Canada. It has been nearly a month since the death of 19-year old Halifax Walmart employee Gursimran Kaur, whose body was discovered in an industrial oven in the store’s bakery.
There has been much public interest in this terrible event which not only made headlines locally, but around the world.
After a month long criminal investigation along with intense public speculation, the Halifax Regional Police have released their findings.

On Monday, HRP Constable Martin Cromwell, Public Information Officer, released the following information in a video statement, "The sudden death that occurred on October 19th, in Halifax has been determined not to be suspicious.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a sudden death in the Walmart located at 6990 Mumford Road. A 19-year-old woman, who was an employee of the store, was located deceased in a large walk-in oven belonging to the store’s bakery department."
"As a part of the investigation, we conducted several interviews, reviewed video footage, and worked very closely with our partners of Nova Scotia Department of Labour and the Medical Examiner’s Service. The Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration has now assumed the lead in the ongoing workplace investigation."
“Our job at the Halifax Regional Police is to investigate criminality. Today I can share that our investigation has not led us to suspect foul play. We do not believe anyone else was involved in the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.”
Beyond that Police are refusing to release any additional information or details out of respect to the family.
Const. Martin Cromwell also said, "Investigators met with family to share this update and extend condolences."
Cromwell went on to say, "The department understands the public’s interest in the case, “there are questions that may never have answers.” Cromwell also reminded people to be “mindful of the damage public speculation can cause."
Since the death of Gursimran Kaur shocked the entire country and made headlines around the world, there has been an outpouring of support from the local Sikh community, along with many concerned people from around the world and Canadians from coast to coast.
Nearly $195,000 was raised through a GoFundMe campaign started for Kaur’s family following her tragic death.
